FAQs

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral is necessary for a physiotherapy treatment, unless you are being treated for a WCB or ICBC claim. However, patients are advised to check the details of their extended health benefits as some plans may require a physician’s referral in order to get treatment costs reimbursed.

How long will my appointment take?

Please arrive 10 minutes early for your initial appointment to complete necessary paperwork. All our treatments are 30-minutes or 1 hour. All appointments are one-on-one hands on time with your physiotherapist. The number of sessions you’ll need depends on your condition. During the initial visit your therapist will assess you, determine your treatment plan and discuss this with you after the assessment.

What are the benefits of using my online Marpole Physiotherapy Account?

Experience the convenience of your own Marpole Online Account! We offer our clients the ability to book online. This is a convenient way of being able to manage your appointments from anywhere at anytime. In addition, by loggin into your own personal Marpole Account, you will be able to access your documents, history of physiotherapy visits, your receipts, exercises your therapist has prescribed, as well as future appointment times. Should you wish to share any reports such as X-rays and MRI’s, you will be able to upload these to your confidential, secure area that only you and your therapist will see.

What do I need to bring with me?

We ask our patients to wear clothing appropriate to the type and area of injury. Shorts and a t-shirt or tank top is usually sufficient. We also have gowns and shorts available at the clinic for your convenience. WCB or ICBC patients: we require your doctors referral, case manager’s name and contact information,  claim number, and care card number. Please bring any test reports or other medical documentation you feel may be helpful in your treatment planning. Alternatively, you are welcome to upload any documentation to your own private Marpole Physiotherapy Online Account. As mentioned, it is not necessary to have a doctors referral for a private visit. If you do have one, please bring it in with your Care Card.

Do I get my treatment covered?

If you have extended health benefits or have been injured as a result of a work or a car accident, then you will likely have part or all  of your treatment paid for (depending on ICBC policies, please contact us if you are not sure). If you are using extended health benefits, check the details of your coverage in your Extended Health Manual, or speak with your Human Resources department.

Through The Medical Services Plan (MSP), the BC government can cover a total of 10 treatments of physiotherapy for those that qualify for Premium Assistance. For further information on Premium Assistance, visit The Medical Services Plan website on http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/msp/ or call our clinic at 604 – 263 4414.
